PixieGene is a private limited company commercializing novel genetic porcine models of human diseases.

Genetically modified pigs are excellent tools for functional studies of degenerative disorders of aging man due to similarities in anatomy, physiology and metabolism - as well as size and longevity.

Our first disease model is a Göttingen minipig carrying a gene coding for Alzheimer´s disease. The pig was originally generated at Aarhus University in 2007.

PixieGene is in the process of commercializing other novel models as well e.g. an Atherosclerosis model.
